I got to HOLD him!!

Our Little Happy Family....our first real photo!
July 8, 2009 Kaden-33 days old

I wanted to post these pictures. It was a big Milestone yesterday...I finally was able to hold my son after 33 days! What an amazing experience. I cried, I laughed, and I was in complete aww...Motherhood. What an amazing calling. I feel so blessed to experience it...I love my son so much. It makes me love my mom so much more...
Rusty called me yesterday from work and said I would like to come down for 12 o'clock cares (change diaper, take temp, reposition him and love on him-they do it every 4 hours) and I was like ok...I will pack us a lunch and we can do that...Well, the Dr. kept telling me now that he is off the jet you can hold him maybe tomorrow and then maybe tomorrow...he had a rough couple of times adjusting. So I didn't really get my hopes up yesterday but when I walked in to the pod Kaden's nurse was so excited to tell me that the Dr. said I could hold him for like 15 minutes...

Well, because Kaden did soooo well while I was holding him they left him on me for like an hour and 10 I wanted to share the pictures!! Rusty got to be there!
PS...Kaden will be having PDA surgery to close his PDA in his heart this afternoon or tomorrow morning so like I always say please keep him in your prayers that all will go well with surgery.

  1. I am sooo happy you could finally hold Kaden and he could feel your tender touch.

  2. love the pictures! I am so glad you finally got to hold him. I hope the surgery goes well.

    Love ya,

  3. Jac, what an amazing experience to be able to hold him for so long. I am so happy for you! It is really hard for me to see you have to go through all this because I feel like I take the little things for granite, like getting to hold my baby. Kaden is so tiny, Mia looks like a giant in comparison. I wish I could be there to see you and see him. Mia and Kaden could be friends once he is able to come home. What an amazing day that will be huh? Well I am always keeping you guys in my prayers. I hope everything goes perfectly tomorrow. Love you.

  4. wow jacquie. you are amazing! im so glad that you got to hold kaden! he is so little and precious! you guys will be in my prayers i hope all goes well. thanks for your post and keeping us updated love you

  5. I remember Heidi's PDA ligation day. It's so much harder on the parents than the child. But she started improving so much after it was done. And the rest of his life he'll have a great scar to show people--just ask Heidi to see hers!

  6. Hey Jacquie!! I hope you remember me!? I was talking to Tara today and she told me all about you and your little Kaden! Congrats on having a baby! That is so awesome you got to hold him!! Good luck on the surgery! I cant believe how tiny and cute he is!!

  11. Yeah- That is so exciting. Parenthood becomes even more realistic when you get to hold the baby!! They really do love getting touched.

  12. I came across your blog through a friend of mine. I too have premiee twins (26 weeks). They spend several months in the same NICU. Your baby is in great hands, the staff is wonderful. He looks like he is doing great :)
